Style Spotlight: Teyana Taylor
Alas, my Sweet Sixteenth was far from fabulous. If my memory serves me right my parents paid the entry fee for all my friends and I at the local roller rink. Afterwards we skated merrily home. Teyana Taylor on the other hand threw a birthday party to end all birthday parties. The recently signed musician to Pharrell’s label Star Trak, made her grand entrance dressed as a life sized, black Barbie doll. The bubblegum pink Heatherette dress she wore summarized her style so perfectly – skater street but all the way sweet. She’s a strange hybrid between Aaliyah, Lupe Fiasco, and Debbie Harry. I chose to spotlight her before her album drops next year. I love how unique she is, especially in this increasingly homogenous music industry. I haven’t heard any of her music so I shall reserve judgment on that but based on her image I am 100% intrigued. Visit her MySpace page to learn more and listen to some tracks. She is tres cool. I can't wait to hear her album. As far as her style she reminds me of Kelis back in the day when her hair was still big. Good choice for a spotlight.
Not only is she stylishly fabulous, she's a sweetheart too... I took some of the youth I work with shopping in Harlem and she was gracious enough to pose for multiple pics with them..
I appreciate her individuality but that dress she wore on her Sweet 16 was a hot mess. i twas just too....much!

Isn't she first and foremost a dancer ?? She creates dances , and is also a choreographer who works with beyonce .
none the less .... I luv her style... i wish her luck !!!
I love her for the young girls out there. Hopefully they will follow this trend along with Lil Mama's. These adolescent girls need to be their age again. With all the Beyonces, Rhianna's and the sometimey Ciara. The young women of color need to cover it up.
i don't know who she is exactly. however, its's nice to a young girl dressed like a young girl and and not hoochie trainee. very fresh, young. too cute.
Yea I personally wouldn't wear what she did to her birthday party but what was more outrageous was her spoiled brat attitude. Not a role model in my opinion.

I really like her style, but i listened to some of her songs and i don't think she can sing that well. but, at the same time she is an excellent dancer. she sounded good at the end of "google me" and she looked gorgeous in teen vogue's a-z top pics. I hope she does great in her life!!!!!!!!!!!!
um she seem cool or whateve. i nvr saw the episode thou. i just always see her pics on my friends' myspace page and got interestd lol
