Rihanna

Rihanna leaving the MTV studios in New York City looking fashionably preppy on October 10th, 2007.
Rihanna is undisputedly the pop princess de jour. With pop royalty comes great responsibility. First and foremost she must become a burgeoning style icon. Personally, I find Rihanna’s style hit or miss. Sometimes she gets it so right by channeling the bad girl/rock chic thing. Other times she takes it a little too far like this ensemble – hate the boots and leather tights. In the pic above Rihanna works the preppy look to perfection. Wear something like this to work (without so many shirt buttons open) and a classic fall coat. See below for ideas.

I've loved her style from the beginning. Definitely a trendsetter even though sometimes she goes a teeny bit too far with that bad girl thing. I love me some Rihanna!!!!!!!

  2. I'd be interested to learn who styles her and their thought process. I believe Rihanna's style is more due to the people behind her than Rihanna herself.

Whomever is doing it -- is doing a good job.

I love Rhianna's style. It fits her. There are way more people who are hits and misses consistently than her. Most of the time she looks stylish and fab.

  4. Subtle Details - Fashion tip from www.artfulwears.com!

Rihanna (or her stylist!) seems to know that subtle details truly make an outfit. In fact, this seems to be a major media focus these days, so I thought I would share some of my thoughts with you on this topic.

First of all, what do I mean by subtle details? Let’s say you are wearing a solid chocolate brown dress. Obviously anyone can throw on some brown shoes, walk out the door, and look ok. However, YOU want to look fabulous. Chocolate is easy to accessorize since it’s a neutral. Maybe you put a great pair of turquoise shoes with it, a print bag, and a great pair of earrings. Or perhaps you go with a patterned shoe. There are so many ways to shake things up. The way to make your accessories less obvious is for them to coordinate, but not match. Notice how the detail on Rhianna's shoes totally go with that sweater?

I like the idea of playing with other neutral colors besides black and white. Black and white are not the only neutrals in existence. Try adding gold, silver, ivory, taupe, chocolate, or dark blue.

Adding one accessory that really pops off your outfit makes a bold statement. It could be a great piece of jewelry, scarf, bag, or shoes. Just don’t over it do it! For more fashion tips and HOT items visit www.artfulwears.com!

I love Rihanna and her sense of style. She is almost always on point; the problem is that sometimes she tends to over do it. I think the leather leggings could have worked with the boots if the weren't patent leather. Despite all this though she like Kelis are bringing on the freshness.

  10. I dress like this daily and I'm afraid that I may sometimes border butchdom. Now I realize as long as everything is fitted and I wear heels, I'm good.
