Since GirlShop.com is slowly slipping into oblivion, you may be on the search for a new source of untapped designer talent. Let me poke you in the right direction. Head to UnsungDesigners.com for one-off pieces from up-and-coming talent, in fact, Project Runway’s Kara Janx (season 2) started off by selling her clothes via the D.C. based business. The online store has recently taken its idea from the virtual world into the real world. Now open on the first Saturday of every month, fashionista’s in the DC metro area can browse through their rails at the location below. Just look for the inconspicuous pink door in an alley between Felix and New Orleans cafe in Adams Morgan… no seriously!Address:

a cool thing I found out you can do at some indie stores is ask for custom sizing. i know unsung does it because i got a larger dress made after complaining about the same thing, so if you are more well-endowed than a size 8/10 (like me!) you can ask if they'll make your size! apparently the reason why the size "large" is so small is b/c the stuff isn't mass produced in China so the size range is limited. But most times the designers are happy to make stuff for a real woman's body. Go indie!
ReplyDeletereal women come in all sizes, including 2. thanks.
ReplyDeletehi, this is the designer from mignonette - my largest size is actually a 22. if you want to see my website and order real girl sizes (from 0-22), visit the site at www.mignonettedesigns.com
