Calling All Cover Girls!
Queen Latifah and CoverGirl are holding a casting call in NYC next week to find the next CoverGirl. Queen Latifah believes every woman is a “queen” and on Monday, January 29th, she is holding an open-casting call in NYC to find a new face to appear in an ad for the CoverGirl Queen Collection.
All women of color -- from Latina to African American -- ages 18-48 are invited to strut their stuff in front of a panel of judges, including Queen Latifah herself. Contestants will be asked to share their story as to how they have achieved both inner and outer beauty –whether it was through a recent accomplishment, community service, overcoming an obstacle or standing up for something they were passionate about. If you think you have what it takes head down there and give them your best pose! See details below...

this would be so nice, but I have class that day! ugh, i might get there late!
I'm going! Hopefully she'll pick a fellow 'thicke' sista!
What happened? They're not happy with ANTM models anymore!
i wonder if you can wear make up to the casting?
If you do, wear it really light don't 'cake' it on!
I went to this casting and it was completely unproffesional. They only had enough tickets for 250 people while the rest of us were waiting on line like idiots. I'm dissapointed with Cover Girl and very dissapointed with Queen Latifah. The auditions were supposed to be unitl 4 pm and she left at 1:30 p.m. I came from a different state to stand in the cold for four hours. Not one of Latifah's employees came out to tell us the situation until the last moment, 2:00 p.m. It's very upsetting to me what they did, and they definately owe everyone who was their an apology.
^^Oh man I'm sorry to hear about that... I'd be P*SSED! Write to them and complain, I'll also pass on your coments to their OR staff.
Like I have stated in other websites, I really think that this contest was a hoax. Pure publicity. Cameras were filming people that were standing in line early in the morning, and then at noon. That was it. I got there at 9:30am, and stood in line until almost 3:00pm. I did not see any blue tickets that were given out, that's why I didn't move from the line. At 1:30pm, a security guy from BBKings came out, who did not mention anything about any "blue tickets", and told us that we should stay in line because at 2:00pm, they were going to tell him where to cut the line. No such thing happened. Instead, they called the cops, and after they saw that people were still not moving, they told everybody to visit QueenLatifah.com for more information. The website is not even running, and there is no message addresssing what happened yesterday. This whole thing was absolutely ridiculous, and not to mention inhumane. There was such a lack of respect on the part of the CoverGirl representatives and Queen Latifah, not only because people wasted their time standing there, but because it was freezing cold yesterday. I had to stay home today because I'm feeling sick from standing there for more than 5 hours. I really can't believe Queen Latifah would allow people to use her name for something like this. A lot of the people stood in line because they wanted an opportunity, but they were also there to support her. I am so disappointed. I think all Hispanic and African American women standing in that line got CoverGirl and Queen Latifah's message loud and clear: "You ain't worth our time".
I meant 'comments' & 'PR staff!'
Veronica is it ok to copy your post. I can email it to CoverGirl directly? I can't believe they played people like that. So did they actually see anyone? What time did they get their tickets?
Sylvia,
From what I have read on other websites, they only gave out 200 or so blue tickets. I did not see anybody giving out tickets, which is why I didn't move from the line. I got there at around 9:30am and did not move from that line until the cops came. I don't know what time the tickets were given out, but they kept people standing there for more than 5 hours, and did not inform anybody that only a certain amount of people were going to be seen. The advertisement said from 11:00am to 4:00pm, and I think that by 1:30pm, Queen Latifah had already left. You can copy my post, but I have already e-mailed Cover Girl, and I'm still waiting for a response. Thanks.
No words can explain the ordeal we went through on Monday. I've never ever been that cold in my entire life. Everything on me hurt. I had the strangest and most painful pain in my pelvis area ( so did other ladies on line), it made it really hard to walk. It was mind numbingly cold. I was there from 9.20am till about 2.30 when i heard that she wasn't seeing anymore people...
I just don't understand why you would give out a certain number of tickets and not send everyone else on their way if YOU KNEW that this was the number of people that could be seen due to time constraints.. It makes no sense. The whole thing was poorly organized and poorly executed. So much of sales is by word of mouth and i would be lying if i said i would recommend covergirl to anyone. I would be an even bigger liar if i said that i wouldn't bad mouth cover girl just because of what i went through
It was horrible. Peoples lives were put at risk and thats just not acceptable...
This was the most unprofessional thing i had witness in all my life. I flew in from ATLANTA GA, for this and i didnt even get tbe cance to audition. I arrived at 9 am and stood in the cold for 5 hours. Noone came and gave an explanation to us or anything they just rudely said "go home" I think Cover Girl needs to have another audition in the south and maybe this time it will be a little more professional
